Introduction to the Fused Cast AZS Block

Fused Cast AZS block is also called electro Zircon Corundum block, which is abbreviated as AZS because it contains Al2O3-ZrO2-SiO2. According to the different content of Zirconia from 33%-41%, fused cast AZS block can be divided into three types AZS—33#, AZS—36#, and AZS—41#. Fused cast AZS block is made from pure Alumina powder and Zircon sand (composed of 65% zirconia and 34% SiO2). After Alumina powder and Zircon sand melt in an electric furnace, they are cast into various molds and cool themselves down to become white solid.

Fused cast AZS refractory materials are among the best, thus being widely used in the structure of glass melting furnaces. And different types are used in different parts of glass melting furnaces as each type of fused cast AZS block has different corrosion resistance. To give you only one example, the fused cast AZS refractory class containing 36% ZrO2 has excellent corrosion resistance. This makes it a very good choice for the glass contact parts of the melters. It is also very effective in paving blocks and side walls. The 17% ZrO2 Super Low Exudation is very good because it allows for eliminating the vitreous phase exudation. The result is a higher quality of glass.

Fused cast AZS block is mainly applied to all the melting tanks where directly gets in touch with the glass liquid such as sidewall, paving of working end, superstructure, forehearth, throat, bubbling brick, corner brick, etc.

The dense microstructure of the fused cast AZS block makes the block good resistance to glass liquid erosion, and it is not easy to produce stones or other defects in the glass furnace. It is the most used product in a glass furnace, mainly suitable for the superstructure of the melting tank, the tank wall bricks and forehearths of the working tank, etc.

In addition to having the same cocrystallization as AZS33, 36# AZS bricks are further enhanced in erosion resistance due to the addition of more chain-locked Zirconia crystals, so it is suitable for areas with fast glass flow rate or higher temperature. AZS36 is a high-price-performance product in the AZS series of fused cast refractory, with high resistance to molten glass erosion and low contamination characteristics, and is usually used in critical parts such as the tank wall of the melting tank of the glass furnace.

ASZ 41

AZS41 in addition to the cocrystals with Silicon Oxide and Alumina, it also contains more uniformly distributed Zirconia crystals. It has extremely high resistance to liquid glass erosion and extremely low contamination of liquid glass. It is mostly used in key parts such as the tank wall, doghouse corner, throat, and all-electric melting furnace of glass furnaces.
