The Production Process of Chrome Corundum Brick

Using alumina as raw material, adding an appropriate amount of chromium oxide powder and chromium corundum fine powder, it is formed and fired at high temperatures. The chromium oxide content of sintered chromium corundum bricks is generally lower than that of fused cast chromium corundum bricks. It can also be prepared by mud pouring method, evenly mixing alumina powder and chromium oxide powder, adding a dispergator and an organic binder to make thick mud, while adding part of chromium corundum clinker, using the grouting method to make bricks, and then fire, the product has the characteristics of wear resistance, thermal shock resistance, acid, and alkali erosion resistance.

Properties of Sintered Chromium Corundum Bricks

Fire resistance

From the Al2O3-Cr2O3 binary phase diagram, it can be seen that Al2O3 and Cr2O3 can form a continuous solid solution without low eutectic production. Therefore, the addition of Cr2O3 to high-purity corundum materials, regardless of the amount added, not only will not reduce the fire resistance of the material, but also improve the fire resistance of the material. The refractoriness and refractoriness under load temperature of chrome corundum bricks are higher than those of high-purity corundum products.

Compressive strength

The normal temperature compressive strength of high-purity corundum bricks is generally 70~100MPa, and the normal temperature compressive strength of high-performance chromium corundum bricks is generally 150MPa, and its strength is significantly higher than that of corundum bricks. This is because in the sintering process of the product, between the particles and particles, between particles and fine powder, between fine powder and fine powder are formed Al2O3-Cr2O3 solid solution, the solid solution like a bridge to connect the particles, fine powder, so that the strength of the material is greatly improved.

Thermal shock resistance

When Cr2O3 is added to corundum when the Cr2O3 content is 10%~66%, the thermal shock stability of the material decreases with the increase of Cr2O3 content, that is, the thermal shock stability of chrome corundum bricks with low Cr2O3 content is better than that of chrome corundum bricks with high Cr2O3 content.

Slag corrosion resistance

The solubility of Cr2O3 in coal gasification slag (SiO2-CaO series) and various glass melts is much smaller than that of other oxide materials. Therefore, Cr2O3 or refractory materials containing Cr2O3 have good resistance to steel slag, non-ferrous smelting slag, coal gasification slag, oil gasification slag, and various glass melt melting capabilities. The liquid phase viscosity generated by the reaction of Cr2O3 melt or Cr2O3 with slag is greater than that of other low melts, which prevents the slag from penetrating the brick along the capillary pores and avoiding the formation of metamorphic layer and structural peeling.

For use in the iron and steel industry, chrome corundum brick material is above double longer than the service life extended of corundum material, such as ladle air brick, etc. For use in the nonferrous smelting industry, the wear resistance and erosion resistance of chrome corundum brick are superior to other bricks.
